Our history

1992:

John Howell and Co established in the form of a sole trader, its first contract being to help the International Chamber of Commerce’s International Maritime Bureau diversify out of the field of piracy into the area of economic crime.

1993

First investor relations client: OeKB - Austria's central provider of financial services and information to exporters and capital markets.

 

Work on compliance frameworks with Erasmus University Rotterdam and the Dutch Ministry of Justice. including the Dutch Ministry of Justice Table of Eleven (T11) Model and its commercial counterpart B11.

1994:

Contract to advise L-Bank – the State Bank of Baden-Württemberg or investor relations (now in its 12th year).

1996:

Development of the FIRS Brand – Fixed-Income Investor Relations Systems

1997- 2001:

Development of regulatory consultancy activity in UK and EU with a range of partners. Work on more user-friendly compliance analysis models.

2002-2003

Contract to advise Hungarian government on FATF delisting and EU accession issues. Projects in Pakistan, Bangladesh and UK.

2004:

John Howell & Company Ltd incorporated in England.

2005

FIRS and St Antony’s College Oxford appointed by law as economic advisers to the National Bank of Kazakhstan. Projects in the Middle-East and at EU level.

2006:

John Howell & Co and FIRS activities combined under the John Howell & Company Ltd umbrella. JH&Co retained as a trading name. Projects in US, Algeria, UK and Hungary.
