Evghenia Sleptsova

Evghenia Sleptsova is a research associate at John Howell and Co. Ltd, and works on sovereign wealth fund analysis and banking sector research.
Evghenia is also a PhD candidate at the University of Birmingham, working on Ukrainian trade with the EU. She holds an MA in Political Economies of Russia and Eastern Europe from the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, UCL, London, and a BA in Banking from the Academy of Economic Studies in Moldova. She has a number of publications – on the role of lobbying in the EU-Ukraine trade policy making, on trade liberalisation between Moldova and the European Union, and on labour migration from Moldova to the EU. In Birmingham she also worked as a teaching assistant for the European Economics course at the Department of Economics of the Birmingham University.
Her previous work experience was in Moldova. In 2005 she worked at the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives as a project manager on a project related to poverty alleviation and Millennium Development Goals. From February 2002 to September 2003 she worked as an executive assistant to the Head of Office in the EU Delegation in Moldova, and from 2000 to 2002 – as a translator at KPMG Moldova, and prior to that – as auditor assistant at “Audit-Real” Srl from January 1998 to November 1999.
Evghenia speaks Russian (mother tongue), English, Romanian and Ukrainian.
